The beach

The one you walk
to, not drive to

Main Beach runs from the surf club east toward Clarkes, with the park, the pool and the town centre all sitting behind it. It is the most convenient swim in Byron and the only one where you can be out of the water and into lunch inside ten minutes.

It is patrolled every day of the year, which makes it the default with children or with anybody who is not a confident swimmer. The trade-off is that it catches the northerly, so on a blown-out afternoon we will send you around to Wategos instead.
