Clarkes

Small, protected and good with children. The calmest swim close to town.

The beach

The calm one,
with the pines

Clarkes sits in the curve between Main Beach and the Pass, with the Norfolk pines and the caravan park behind it. The headland takes the edge off most swells, so the water here is usually the flattest you will find within walking distance of town.

That makes it the one we send families to. It is patrolled in season, the walk in is short and level, and Beach Byron Bay sits directly behind the sand if you want lunch without moving the car.
